Important Notes Before Beginning – Enrollment CSV (C+)
If you are working off the CSV template for students provided in your Class+ instance and have custom fields, you will need to add additional columns at the end of the columns in your file.
EX:
- customfield_Reason
Regardless of how you build your starting template, please ensure you save your complete file as a CSV UTF-8 file before uploading. This file format is available through Excel when using the “Save as” function.
Below is a table of each column that is in the CSV along with its explanation and possible values (or reference list):
| Name of Column | Explanation | Required? | Possible Values |
| LastSyncDate | N/A | No, not applicable | N/A |
| EnrollmentIndex | This field is only needed on CSV files intended to update existing enrollment records. | No for creating an enrollment, yes for updating an enrollment. | Genius will generate this number after enrollment creation. |
| StudentIndex | This field is the index number of the student who you intend to enroll in a section. | Yes | Genius will generate this number after student creation. |
| SectionIndex | This field is the index number of the section where you intend to enroll the student. | Yes | Genius will generate this number after section creation. |

CSV Columns that have pre-determined possible values:
- Enrollment Index Values in Enrollment CSV (values are case sensitive)
Enrollment Index numbers are only generated AFTER an enrollment has been created in Genius. Subsequently, enrollments that do not currently have a Genius record do not need this field filled out in their relevant creation CSV file. However, to update enrollment records via CSV, you will need their Genius Enrollment Index number.
- Student Index Values in Enrollment CSV (values are case sensitive)
When importing via CSV to Genius, an enrollment record needs a Student Index number for each row to identify the student being enrolled. Student Index numbers are only generated AFTER a learner has been created in Genius.
- Section Index Values in Enrollment CSV (values are case sensitive)
When importing via CSV to Genius, an enrollment record needs a Section Index number for each row to identify the section where to enroll the student. Section Index numbers are only generated AFTER a section has been created in Genius.
- Status Values in Enrollment CSV
| Possible Values | Explanation |
| ACTIVE | The student is actively taking the course. |
| DROPPED | The student has dropped or failed out of the course. |
| DROPPED_GRACE | The student was pulled out of the course with no punitive action taken. |
| COMPLETED | The student has fully completed the course. |
| BLOCKED | The student is blocked from taking or completing the course. |
| FUTURE | The student is expected to take the course in the future. |
