Introduction
In this article, we will describe the steps required to create an Affiliation. We will also describe how to nest Affiliations within each other, and how to find Affiliations once you have created them – allowing you to manage the groups under which you can classify your users with ease.
Creating an Affiliation
To create an affiliation, simply click on the Affiliations tab in the Genius CE & Enterprise Admin screens:
- This will immediately show all active affiliations in your Genius CE or Enterprise instance. You can then click on an affiliation to enter its Profile Page.
To create an affiliation, simply click on the Add Affiliations button on the sidebar:
The Create Affiliations screen appears. In the Create Affiliation tab, you will be able to define the name of the affiliation, the contact name, the contact email, and other details for the Affiliation. You can also customize the profile page for each Affiliation and add (or remove) custom fields as required to better manage your organization's learning initiative.
Sub-Affiliations, or Affiliations within Affiliations
In Genius CE & Enterprise, it is very easy to create a sub-affiliation. In the example above, we created an affiliation called Test Sub-Affiliation. We can now follow the same steps to create a sub-affiliation under this Test Affiliation by clicking on the Add Affiliation button on the sidebar under the Affiliations tab.
- To create a sub-affiliation, make sure to click on the Parent Affiliation field on the Affiliation's profile page. You can then select a parent affiliation amongst all the affiliations you have already created in your organization for this grouping you are creating.
- This list will show all the affiliations and sub-affiliations available for you to select, allowing you to create sub-sub-affiliations (or deeper) using the same interface used to create an affiliation in the first place.
When you create a sub-affiliation, the level of this sub-affiliation is shown under the affiliation's Profile page. There are also unique links created with the Affiliate ID generated to further narrow the user experience to what is available for that particular affiliation.
To see the level that an affiliation is under, click on Edit Information on the sidebar that appears when you are on the Affiliation's Profile Page.
- As you change the Parent Affiliation, the Affiliation Level of the object you are editing will also update automatically.
