You have started your learning journey, you have an Enterprise+ account and you are ready to begin learning! Excellent. The first step that you will take is to browse and search for courses that interest you and that meet your learning requirements.
Enterprise+ makes this process extremely easy through the Course Catalog we have created as part of our solution. In this article, we will describe how to use the Enterprise+ Course Catalog to browse, filter, and find the courses that interest you.
The Enterprise+ Course Catalog
Enterprise+ makes it easy for learners to find the learning opportunities that they need by providing them with a complete Course Catalog. The Course Catalog allows you to see a preview of all the courses on offer, search for courses that fit your interests or training needs, learn more about those courses, and finally, quickly enroll in those courses if you are ready to complete your enrollment.
Your organization's Enterprise+ Course Catalog may be public or private. A public Course Catalog can be accessed without logging into Genius, while a private Catalog requires that you log into the system first. You can usually reach your Course Catalog by going to <myorganization.geniussis.com> - or the address set up by your organization to access Enterprise+.
- If your organization has made the course catalog private, you will have to log in through a screen like this:
- if your organization has made the course catalog public, you will reach the Enterprise+ Learner's Dashboard directly:
- When you log in as a learner, you may reach your Learner's Dashboard before the Course Catalog. You can click on the Register for Courses link on the sidebar on the left-hand side of your screen to reach the Course Catalog at any time.
Below, we will describe in detail how to use the Enterprise+ Course Catalog to find the courses that fit your interests or needs.
Browsing for Courses
The first way to find courses using the Enterprise+ learning catalog is to browse through the catalog. After clicking on the Register for Courses link in the Sidebar on the left-hand side of your screen, you can scroll up and down the course catalog to see all the courses that are available for you to complete:
Each course is laid out in tiles, making it easy for you to quickly learn more about the courses that you can register for, or enroll in them directly. The tiles also provide you with information about the cost of each course directly from within the catalog's interface. Enterprise+ can then be used to pay for your courses if required.
The second way to find courses using the Enterprise+ Course Catalog is to search through it using the search box provided in the upper right-hand corner of the Catalog's screen:
You can enter some text to find a specific course you are interested in. For example, if we wanted to find all courses related to Insurance, we would simply type "Insurance" in the text box, and then click on 'Find a Course' or press Enter on your keyboard.
The course catalog then adjusts to display courses related only to Insurance in your catalog:
If your organization has a lot of courses on offer, which can be the case in large organizations with thousands of members or very complex training initiatives, you can combine the Search feature with Filters to improve the way that you find courses through the Enterprise+ course catalog. We describe how this is done in the next section:
In the Enterprise+ Course Catalog, Filters make it possible to quickly browse through the course catalog by reducing the number of courses on display or to restrict Searches to only courses that meet specific criteria.
Those criteria can be:
- the dates between which each course takes place.
- the categories, or of each course.
- the delivery method for the course.
- the keywords attached to a course.
- and finally, the location where the course takes place.
To access the filters, click on the "Advanced Filters" link below the Search box in your Course Catalog:
Once in the Advanced Filters screen, you can access each one of the criteria you can use to filter through the Course Catalog. This functionality is described in detail in the following sections:
Filtering by Date
To filter a course by Date, you can click on the text box that reads All Dates and then use the user interface to find the day, month, and year when your filters will begin and end:
Filtering by Category
In Enterprise+, categories are a way in which course creators can organize and classify courses within the course catalog. For example, if your organization has a specific set of courses designed for new employees, these courses can be labeled with a category known as Onboarding in order to distinguish them from general training opportunities.
To filter your Course Catalog by Categories, you can click on the All Categories menu item on the top left-hand side of your screen:
This displays all the available categories to find and select your courses. Click on a category, and your Course Catalog will select only those courses that are associated with a specific category:
Filtering by Delivery Method
Another filter that is available is to search for courses by their delivery method. The delivery method is how the course is taught. Typically, courses can be fully online, fully on-site, or a mixture of the two (known as blended learning).
To filter your Course Catalog by Delivery Method, you can click on the All Delivery Methods menu item:
This displays all the available Delivery Methods to find and select your courses. Click on a delivery method, and your Course Catalog will select only those courses that are delivered in the way you select:
Filtering by Location
Finally, can also filter courses in the Catalog by location. In Enterprise+, when a course is created, it is also possible to specify where the course will take place. For example, if an organization has a series of named rooms or auditoriums where onsite training opportunities take place, this information can be included in the Course Catalog, making it possible for you to know where your course will be held in the case of onsite learning opportunities.
To filter your Course Catalog by Location, you can click on the All Locations menu item:
This displays all the available Locations to find and select your courses. Click on a location, and your Course Catalog will select only those courses that are delivered at the place you select.
You can also combine filters to find specific courses that meet your criteria. For example, you can filter for Health Care courses that are delivered online and that take place between January and June of this year to find a specific set of courses that meets your requirements.
